1. Rogers Place – A New Era in Edmonton
A stunning combination of architecture, technology, and community spirit, Rogers Place is a catalyst for a massive downtown revitalization in Edmonton, Alberta. This transformative, world-class venue is the first Canadian LEED Silver National Hockey League (NHL) facility and sits in the heart of the capital city’s new ICE District. When complete, ICE District will be Canada’s largest sports and entertainment neighborhood.
PCL transformed a defunct rail-yard-turned-parking-lot into one of the most dynamic sports and entertainment destinations in North America; one that boasts amazing sightlines, wide concourses, leading food and beverage offerings, and the latest in technology—including the largest true-high-definition, center-ice scoreboard in the NHL.
One of North America’s most well-known stadiums, STAPLES Center is home to five professional sports teams, the Los Angeles Kings (NHL), the Lakers and the Clippers (NBA), and the Sparks (WNBA). The venue hosts the Grammy Awards and is a sure stop on the tour of every major performing artist. Within this PCL-built, 960,000-square-foot facility are five concourses, three restaurants, and 24 concession stands. Numerous offices round out this impressive facility's features.
Dodger Stadium is the largest baseball park in the major leagues, with (arguably) the best seats in the game and perfectly constructed sightlines. After multimillion-dollar renovations, the stadium now boasts additional entrances and easier access to concourses, the pedestrian outfield plaza, and lounging areas that overlook the bull pens. New audiovisual systems, bar and food-service areas, interior finishes, and a team store were added, as well as upgrades to a lounge and the Visiting Team Clubhouse. PCL’s work at Dodger Stadium has also included structural upgrades, landscaping, streetscaping, concession-stand and office build-outs, and renovations to suites and restaurants. PCL’s work at Dodger is on-going and additional improvements are made each year during the off season.
The first open-air stadium built in Los Angeles since Dodger Stadium, the Banc of California Stadium is home to the Los Angeles Football Club, the newest Major League Soccer team, and is responsible for bringing the world’s game to the world’s city. PCL’s stadium project team used five million pounds of steel to construct this prolific stadium in LA’s Exposition Park.
Some of the 22,000 seats are as close as 12 feet from the touchline, and none is located farther than 135 feet from the field; premium seating options include 35 suites. The stadium also features restaurants, a team store, two jumbo video scoreboards, three private clubs, a rooftop deck, and a nightclub.
Home to Major League Soccer (MLS) team the Toronto FC and the new home to the Canadian Football League the Toronto Argonauts, BMO Field has undergone a transformation into a world-class venue. PCL raised the roof of the stadium, added seats, and expanded the concourse for Toronto’s ardent fans. To ensure that BMO Field remains a soccer-first venue, the playing field is a dual system incorporating both natural grass and artificial turf. BMO Field is now a premier MLS venue and won an ENR Global Best Projects Award of Merit in the Renovation/Restoration category. PCL’s upgrades have enhanced the fan and player experience by supporting a louder, more energetic atmosphere in Canada’s first soccer-specific stadium.
