The Graves 601 hotel was originally constructed as a Le Meridien property and was later converted to the Graveses’ signature hotel. Rising 22 floors above the city and featuring 255 guest rooms, it represents sophisticated modern luxury, and is situated on Hennepin Avenue in the center of Minneapolis’s downtown theater and entertainment district. Owner Jim Graves entrusted PCL to develop and deliver a fast and complex construction plan on one of the busiest blocks in the city.
Graves 601 features sleek, contemporary ballroom and banquet facilities with walls covered in exotic Brazilian woods, a full-service restaurant, night clubs, fitness club, and a business center. It is connected by skyway to the Target center, home of the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA team. The structure is cast-in-place, posttensioned concrete with shear walls at both the core and end walls. Special features include a dramatic grand staircase and a fourth-floor hotel lobby. This project was completed as a joint venture between PCL and Plant Construction of San Francisco, California.
