The new IKEA store in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is the anchor tenant in this Seasons of Tuxedo development. The building is almost 400,000 square feet on two floors, and contains a restaurant, bistro, administrative offices, and workshop areas.
Even though project procurement was a hard-bid, lump-sum tender, the PCL project team engaged in a rigorous value-engineering process to propose over $6 million in potential savings to the owner. Half of these ideas were ultimately accepted. PCL was also able to coordinate an early start date during the value-engineering process to ensure that the original target completion date could be maintained. This spirit of teamwork was maintained throughout the entire project and continued into the final fit-out work, which was also awarded to the PCL Winnipeg team.
