PCL was contracted to build this addition to the Silver Grove Joint Compound, the client’s first wallboard facility in the USA. The 60-foot-tall building is on a 3,600-square foot slab, and is supported by a foundation of 52 auger cast piles.
The PCL project team carefully relocated existing utility lines prior to the start of the project, and then began construction of the foundation. Provisions were also put in place to allow for a second packaging line at a later time. This fully automated joint compound plant became the largest producing plant in the world, and enabled the client to reduce transportation costs by shipping joint compound with wallboard directly to vendors.
