The Palliser South project was an exciting and challenging 18-story office tower and two-story professional building development in Calgary’s expanding Beltline District. The tower was built in a very congested area, where numerous other buildings significantly affected the construction plan. PCL’s capacity and expertise in solving this issue allowed the client to stay on schedule for tenants.
Another challenge was that of the tight floor plates. Extremely limited available space threatened to affect productivity and slow down construction, but the PCL team maintained an aggressive schedule and a unique workflow plan that kept everything on track. After just 30 months of construction, the project was delivered, despite a final challenge of adverse weather conditions during site work and finishes.
During construction and budgeting, PCL suggested a series of value-engineered ideas and brought the project to completion. A surplus in the design contingency was passed on to the client.
