PCL’s new 83,000-square-foot, design-build office building will be the campus’ second LEED Gold building, fortifying PCL’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Completed in 18 months, Building 5 provides additional office space for over 200 people and numerous support facilities. An 80-person training room with wireless technologies, a corporate data center, a fitness center, and a state-of-the-art executive board room are just some of its modern features.
Building 5 is on track to achieve LEED Gold certification with, among other things, a high-performance building envelope, heat-recovery systems, low lighting power densities, and green roofs. Abundant natural light throughout the office spaces makes Building 5 an inviting place to work.
Constructing Building 5 on a fully operational campus and tying into existing building systems presented unique challenges. The project team created a 200-foot-long corridor through existing offices to connect the existing lobby to the new building, which required clear and regular communication with multiple user groups. When asked what the team’s key to success was, all stakeholders agreed it was the team’s passion to be a construction partner.
