Completed for the Royal Bank of Canada and JLL Real Estate Services, the RBC Shawnessy is the first of its kind; it is the first bank designed to meet the Royal Bank’s new corporate design standard.
To begin work on the 10,000-square-foot renovation, the project team oversaw the demolition and replacement of the existing flooring, ceiling, lighting, washroom facilities and millwork. The renovation also upgraded some of the bank’s mechanical components, such as the HVAC, plumbing, sprinkler, and controls, as well as electrical components like the lighting, power, and controls systems. The renovated bank brings guests into a much more open and inviting space, with a welcome pod and teller stations that are accessible from both standing and sitting positions. There are new meeting spaces, offices, washrooms, and a new vault to go along with the renovated security deposit box viewing areas.
Royal Bank of Canada emphasized the importance of the bank staying open while the renovations were taking place, not only for their clients but also to integrate the RBC Bridlewood branch into the renovated space. To meet this requirement, the project team scheduled both day and night work for each of the three phases, and successfully completed the project within the three-month timeframe.
