The Royal Hawaiian Center escalator project consisted of converting existing public and tenant space into new larger tenant space, as well as the installation of two escalators within a luxury shopping mall in Waikiki.
This project had a very aggressive schedule and was located in an extremely confined area. Nordic PCL's Special Projects division successfully met the completion date by accelerating the self-performed concrete work and expediting submittals for the long-lead structural steel. In addition, the team used a road from the neighboring Royal Hawaiian Hotel to allow for quicker site access. This was Nordic PCL's first project for the client, and successful completion has led to subsequent commercial tenant construction.
