This 14-story residence building created additional accommodations for the ever-growing student population at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, one of Calgary’s prominent post-secondary institutions. Typical suites contain four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a common living and kitchen area. The suites consist of institutional grade finished to meet the student residence standards. The building’s foundation is constructed with cast-in-place augered piles and concrete walls to grade. The structure is cast-in-place concrete floors, columns, and walls. The exterior envelope is brick and EIFS on a structural steel stud wall.
PCL worked with the client to maintain costs and schedule, and to ensure the project was ready for the start of the next year’s sessions. The team coordinated all site activities on this project to ensure no disruptions were made to the operations of the existing campus.
