The Selkirk Water Treatment Plant Expansion project consisted of the addition of a new solids clarifier tank, new filter tanks, new recarbonation tanks, a second-floor office and meeting room addition, miscellaneous interior modifications, and the construction of a two-vehicle detached garage. PCL self-performed the concrete work on the building structure and interior tanks.
The client required PCL to manage the mechanical and electrical installation and integration, while the plant remained in use for the City of Selkirk. Many unforeseen design conflicts with the existing equipment led PCL to recommend numerous measures to minimize impacts on the budget and schedule. Suggestions for alternative materials and equipment, equipment arrangements, electrical feeds, and expedited deliveries were all well received by the client and implemented to great effect.
