This project called for an extension to the D.L. MacDonald maintenance facility in Edmonton. Work included renovations to the existing facility and the construction of new Right of Way and Blow Down Buildings that will also be used for maintenance and administration offices.
The client requested PCL’s help in lowering costs through value engineering of the Right of Way building. PCL provided several options, one of which the client accepted, bringing the costs under budget and accelerating the schedule. This option incorporated a mezzanine level within the existing footprint to house additional administration offices. Throughout this project, PCL and the client maintained an excellent relationship, making this project one of the client’s most successful to date.
