To renovate the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, PCL's Special Projects division demolished the interior of the existing building and reconstructed a new 2,800-seat theater and related support space, including dressing rooms, fly tower, stage, orchestra pit and orchestra lifts, sound/stage manager booth, and suspended private boxes on the perimeter walls. Also included in the tenant improvement project was the connecting link between the theatre lobby, Boettcher Concert Hall, and Denver Performing Arts Complex Galleria.
The Buell Theatre is located within the Denver Performing Arts Complex, which houses more than 20 performing arts organizations, including the Colorado Ballet, Opera Colorado, and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. The Buell Theatre is the primary venue for Denver Center Attractions, Colorado’s visiting Broadway musical productions. This amplified roadhouse-type theatre is also used for the Denver International Film Festival, graduation ceremonies, corporate events, and musical acts.
