PCL adopted a fasttrack schedule to build the Terminal City Club Tower, one of Vancouver’s finest social club facilities. The 31-story reinforced concrete tower and club consists of four levels of underground parking, a service floor, six floors of office space, five floors of hotel space, and 17 floors of condominiums. It also features a fitness center with 25-meter lap pool and international-size squash courts, as well as two levels of multifunction and formal dining space.
The schedule was a challenge from the beginning. PCL commenced onsite excavation two months later than expected because demolition of the original 103-year-old building (contracted by the client) proceeded slowly. Not only did the PCL team make up those two months, but they also accelerated the overall project schedule.
By working selective overtime and introducing a second crane early in the project, PCL was able to top off the fifth floor (the club roof) two months ahead of schedule and meet the client’s request for an early club opening.
