The Canteen and Intersection at adidas Village

Project Overview

The Canteen and Intersection were each portions of a two-phased renovation to the adidas Village located in the North Portland area. The renovations provide vital space and connectivity for the rapidly growing campus. While the Canteen serves as the main kitchen and dining area for employees, the Intersection is the pivot point of the entire adidas Village — it’s sited at the crossing of primary campus circulation paths and unifies two existing structures in one building. It also offers essential seating adjacent to the Canteen.

PCL Construction and Hacker Architects designed and built this flexible space to provide comfortable areas for informal collaboration and to serve as a space large enough for all-hands presentations, happy hours, and more. The Canteen and Intersection project was delivered as a design-build, guaranteed maximum price project.

On-site construction of the Intersection began in September 2018 and reached substantial completion in November 2019. To provide this heavily frequented space, PCL overcame unique challenges associated with construction between and over existing buildings on a crowded, occupied site. The finished building embraces adidas’ goal to foster a collaborative environment where co-workers can engage with each other and the local community.
