The University of Central Florida Band Practice Building project consists of the construction of a new 11,000-square-foot prefabricated metal building. One-third of the space is conditioned; the other area is an open-air covered deck. The building was constructed adjacent to the existing practice field on the University of Central Florida’s active main campus.
PCL’s relationships with vendors and subcontractors aided in the on-time delivery of the project for the University. The metal wall panel vendor, a long-time partner of PCL, moved PCL’s order up in their production cue, eliminating any delays in procuring materials. The tight project site made scheduling labor difficult, as not all trades could work together side by side in the small facility. Many of PCL’s subcontractors worked overtime on weekends so that work could be installed during times when the project site was less occupied. The PCL management team also worked weekends, so that work was supervised at all times. The owner incurred no additional cost despite much work being completed during off hours.
