The Vizcaya development is located in the Dr. Phillips area, situated on a peninsula amidst Big Sand Lake, Little Sand Lake, and Lake Serene in Orlando. PCL’s scope of work for this project included the construction of two eight-story condominium residential units. A parking garage is included on the first floor of the condominium buildings. The buildings consist of load-bearing masonry and hambro structural systems.
The PCL team was challenged with a unique delivery method for these condominiums. The client wished to offer custom options and finishes for each condo owner, which led to 54 custom units and hundreds of different options. The PCL team was able to coordinate and manage the project by setting deadlines for owner options to be selected, and creating a process to manage each unit in the office and in the field. No custom changes by a homeowner were missed during construction, leading to an easy turnover process.
