The Warrior in Transition facility provides temporary housing for soldiers while they recuperate from injuries sustained during service. These LEED Silver-certified facilities provide the best accommodations possible in appreciation of the soldiers’ sacrifice. The complex includes three separate buildings: a 20,000-square-foot primary facility with a 32-bed barracks; an 8,200-square-foot administration and operations facility; and a 6,600-square-foot Soldier and Family Assistance Center. Also included in the contract were sitework and demolition of existing buildings.
PCL led the design-build effort, bringing over 100 years of cold-region construction experience to the team. During construction, the temperatures at the project site fell below -50 degrees Fahrenheit, but that didn’t stop PCL from completing this project ahead of schedule and under budget.
