This project consisted of the construction of a new three-storey building along with revitalization of existing buildings. The new construction (the Cube) consisted of an architecturally compelling, three-storey addition that includes a living wall stretching three storeys, retail, galleria, and three VIP cinemas located on the site's southwest quadrant. On top of the Cube, there is a roof-top terrace incorporating a green roof. The Cube—designed to be an open and expansive space filled with abundant natural light—features a combination of glass and metals with expansive windows that offer a striking retail streetscape and addresses many of the architectural, design, scale, and usability challenges and limitations posed by the Centre's current design and footprint. The Cube ties into two existing buildings, including the pedestrian tunnel and TTC subway. The second aspect of the project was a comprehensive revitalization and redesign of the existing building from the parking levels to the fourth floor. These renovations included new vertical transportation systems, multimedia displays, waterfall features, streamlined glass balconies, stationary and portable seating, flooring, and ceilings.
