This project is a seven-story, reinforced-concrete building with one basement level. The facility provides dormitory housing, medical care, training, counseling, and job referral services to participants in the Job Corp program administered by the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles. This project achieved LEED Silver certification.
The client is a nonprofit organization, so funding for this project was secured through numerous governmental agencies. Owing to the delayed funding process, PCL managed various scopes of work outside the contract, including the solicitation of bids for food-service equipment, dental and medical equipment, and off-site work. The project team met the client’s expectation in this role by managing multiple bid packages, deferring work activities, and modifying the sequence of work events. PCL wrote and managed these contracts on behalf of the client by keeping separate cost-coding data for ease of tracking.
