PHOENIX, Ariz. (Oct. 8, 2025) — Yesterday, the Town of Gilbert — alongside partners PCL Construction, Inc. and Sundt— celebrated the 50% completion milestone of the North Water Treatment Plant Facility Upgrades and Reconstruction project.

The $536 million expansion project aims to address growing population demands, water quality issues, and improve reliable water supply for Gilbert residents. Once completed, the expansion will increase water production from 45 million gallons per day to 60 million gallons per day, exceed national water quality standards and serve an additional 100,000 residents.

The event brought together project partners, town leadership, and residents to honor the progress made on one of the largest single clean water investments in Arizona’s history. So far, the project has reached substantial completion on the solids handling area and the finished pump station.

Reaching the halfway point reflects both our expertise and that of our partner, Sundt, as well as our commitment to collaboration. With 50% of this project behind us, we remain on track to deliver the full project by January 2029,” said Ankur Talwar, PCL’s Civil West region district manager.

Sam Reidy, president of Sundt’s Water and Wastewater Group, added, “Projects of this scale are only accomplished through a collective commitment to hard work, a collaborative spirit, and a common goal. We’re proud to join the Town of Gilbert and our partner, PCL Construction, as we cross this halfway milestone and start the next phase of the North Water Treatment Plant.”

Sarah Rogowski, senior project manager, Town of Gilbert, remarked, “Reaching the midway milestone is a major accomplishment and sign to our stakeholders and community that we’re making strong progress toward our long-term goals. The project has remained on schedule and within budget, which is a testament to the team’s focus and hard work. As we enter the second half of the project, let’s continue to support one another and work together, ensuring a successful finish.”
