KEYSTONE, Colo. (March 23, 2023) – Kindred Resort, the luxury ski-in, ski-out mixed-use development at the base of Keystone Resort, is soaring upward with the recent installation of two tower cranes.

Before PCL Construction could begin building vertically, horizontal work had to be completed first, a majority of which was completed during the winter months:

  • Since mass excavation started in mid-November 2022, more than 18,000 cubic yards of dirt has been excavated and hauled off site.
  • Since concrete work started in January 2023, more than 1,300 cubic yards of concrete has been placed.

“The PCL team has accomplished a lot in the past several months amid challenges of a snow-packed winter – close to 200 inches of snowfall so far this year,” said Mike Cartner, PCL construction manager. The installation of the tower cranes is an exciting milestone for the project and now stakeholders will start to see progress vertically as the resort really starts to take shape.”

Some of the immediate next steps for the project now that the cranes have been installed include pouring the first section of the elevated concrete slab and framing the west tower followed by the hotel.

The centerpiece of Kindred Resort will be a 107-room hotel managed by Vail Resorts under its RockResorts collection of luxury hotels and residences. The hotel will be flanked by two towers featuring 95 luxury residences ranging from one to four bedrooms. Vertical building of the project will continue through the spring of 2023.

“It’s exciting to see the project come to life,” said Ryan Geller, partner with the Kindred Resort team. “This project will transform the base area of River Run Village and bring a new level of luxury to guests and homeowners at Keystone Resort. This is the first new major development in Keystone in the past 20 years, and we are confident Kindred will further enhance and elevate the Keystone experience.”

“The demand for luxury ski-in, ski-out property is reflected in the success of our pre-sale of the units,” said Scott Russell, Managing Partner of the Kindred team. “More than 60 percent of the residences are sold with record-breaking square-foot pricing for the area. Just in the last month, three more residences went under contract with only five available residences remaining as part of the limited winter release.”

Kindred Resort will offer high-end amenities and services on par with those in Vail, Deer Valley and Aspen, including a private signature ski club with ski valet service, a full-service spa, an outdoor pool and hot tubs, plus a Kids Club. The retail space will include multiple restaurant concepts, as well as the new home for Keystone’s Ski and Ride School and a premium Vail Resorts Retail/Rental location. In addition, the resort will have ample meeting and event space with spectacular mountain views perfect for weddings, conferences and group business events.

“There is truly nothing like Kindred Resort in Summit County, or really in the mountain resort industry,” says Javier Monroy, partner in the Kindred development team. “Kindred is the best location of any new construction in the entire ski industry currently. The property is located just 50 steps from the River Run Gondola at a world-class resort. Keystone is consistently rated as one of the best family-friendly ski resorts in the country.”

Designed to Green Globe standards by OZ Architecture, the project blends luxury finishes, décor and an upscale design aesthetic with natural elements and best practices in sustainability.

“Kindred is moving forward and has nothing but positive momentum,” says Shervin “Shevy” Rashidi, a partner with the project and a long-time Summit County resident, entrepreneur and philanthropist. “We are creating an amazing asset to the community, which will create jobs, opportunities and a new energy for Summit County visitors and residents.”
