DENVER, COLO. (Dec. 19, 2022) – As part of PCL Construction’s annual Mile High United Way giving campaign, the company’s Colorado office donated nearly half a million dollars to the organization this year. A large portion of that $500,000 was given from current and retired employees, and 100% of that amount was then matched by PCL. From the 160 PCL employees who participated, nine of those gave at the “Leaders of the Way” level – between $1,200 and $9,999 – and 10 gave at the “Tocqueville” level – $10,000 or more. PCL’s Colorado office has been giving to Mile High United Way since 1998, and in that timeframe, the company has donated close to $20 million.

“As an employee-owned company, we believe it’s a shared responsibility to give back to the communities where we live and work,” said Deron Brown, PCL’s president and chief operating officer, U.S. operations. “Every year, PCL is proud to know that our donations help support education, health and financial stability, and provide hope to families in need across the state.”

Over a one-month period, PCL organized various events to encourage employee participation with a campaign theme of “building hope with a lot of heart.” PCL hosted a Mile High United Way client and partner golf tournament to raise money for the organization. The company also held a kick-off event at a local distillery to educate the team, especially new employees, on Mile High United Way’s mission and PCL’s involvement to date. PCL also hosted other events including raffles and a cork pull to encourage employee participation.

“I am proud of the fact that PCL doesn’t just build communities through projects using steel and concrete, our employees build hope through philanthropic giving year after year,” said Brown.
