LOS ANGELES, Calif. - February 2, 2026 - PCL Construction Services, Inc. is advancing the $1.96 billion expansion and modernization of the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC). After breaking ground in October 2025, the project is accelerating as teams work toward substantial completion in spring 2028.

Delivered by PCL Webcor, a Joint Venture, serving as the design-builder, the project connects the existing South and West Halls over Pico Boulevard to create a unified, contiguous 750,000 square-foot exhibit hall. The scope also includes 39,000 square feet of new meeting rooms, a 95,000 square-foot multipurpose space and a 98,000 square-foot rooftop ballroom, significantly increasing the Convention Center’s capacity to host major conventions and international events. Plenary Americas is the City’s development partner, and the project is being designed by Populous, alongside a broad network of subcontractors, suppliers and partners.

This project is expected to create more than 15,000 jobs during construction and represents one of the most significant public venue investments in the city’s history.

“We’ve been building in Downtown Los Angeles for more than four decades, and that long-term commitment drives how we approach this project,” said Michael Headrick, senior vice president and district manager for PCL’s California buildings group. “From LA LIVE to Crypto.com Arena, we’ve stayed invested in this community. We will deliver the LACC with the same focus and continuity that define our work in this city.”

With construction underway since October 2025, PCL and its partners continue building on a long legacy of delivering complex, high‑profile venues in Downtown Los Angeles, ensuring the Convention Center evolves to meet the needs of visitors, the community and global audiences.
