TAMPA, Fla. (August 27, 2025) – PCL Construction is proud to be selected by the City of St. Petersburg to deliver the $30 million Lift Station 85 (formerly the Old Albert Whitted water reclamation facility [WRF]) Site Improvements project through a progressive design-build contract.

This critical infrastructure project will enhance the city’s wastewater management capabilities by demolishing the remaining facilities at the decommissioned Albert Whitted WRF, originally constructed in the 1950s. Construction will include 8 to 15 million gallons of new wet weather storage/equalization tanks to better handle storm-related flows and a storm-hardened administrative building designed to withstand hurricane-strength winds. This building will shelter operations staff during emergency storm events.

Design is expected to begin in August 2025, with construction starting in spring of 2026.
