SEATTLE (July 10 2025) –  PCL Construction Services, Inc. is proud to announce it has been selected to deliver the new Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility (Bus OMF), a critical project that will support Sound Transit’s expanding Stride Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system by increasing bus storage, maintenance capacity, and operational efficiency. With Sound Transit reporting more than 27 million boardings in 2024—a 30% increase over the previous year—the agency is accelerating infrastructure investments to meet growing demand and improve regional mobility.

Located in Bothell, Washington, the 12.5-acre complex will serve as the operational heart of the Stride BRT program, housing up to 120 articulated and double-decker buses. The project includes construction of an 18,000-square-foot administration and operations building, as well as a 78,500-square-foot maintenance facility equipped with specialized service bays for propulsion systems, electronics, inspections, and tire work. A multi-level parking structure will provide dedicated space for bus storage on the first level and employee parking above, with integrated fueling, washing, and support systems designed to streamline operations. The development also includes right-of-way improvements and new site access from 20th Avenue SE to accommodate increased transit activity.

“Sound Transit is making transformative investments in the future of public transportation, and the Bus OMF project is a cornerstone of that strategy,” said Andrew Fernandez, district manager for PCL Construction. “We’re honored to bring our expertise in complex, transit-related construction to help deliver a facility that will directly enhance service reliability, sustainability, and rider experience.”

Construction of the Bus OMF facility is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2027. The project builds on PCL’s deep experience delivering large-scale infrastructure across the Northwest and reinforces its commitment to building smarter, more connected communities.
