DENVER, Colo. (Dec. 15, 2023) – This year, PCL Construction contributes $470,000 to Mile High United Way during the company’s annual giving campaign. A substantial portion of the $470,000 came from the generosity of both current and retired employees. Of the 238 participating employees from PCL, 27 contributed at the "Leaders of the Way" level (between $1,200 and $9,999), while nine made significant donations at the "Tocqueville" level ($10,000 or more). In the last 25 years, PCL’s cumulative donations have surpassed $20 million.

“I am incredibly proud of our employees' unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on our community,” said Deron Brown, PCL president and chief operating officer, U.S. Operations. “Our long-standing partnership with Mile High United Way continues to reinforce the notion that together, we can build not only structures but also hope and support for those who need it most.

With a commitment to giving all children a strong start and supporting academic success, Mile High United Way continues to make an instrumental difference in the Denver Metro area. Feeding America reports that in the state of Colorado, one in 10 children experience hunger. Initiatives such as Mile High United Way’s 211 Help Center help alleviate this issue by connecting families to critical resources including food, shelter, rental assistance, childcare, and more.

Mile High United Way will utilize contributed funds to support a variety of critical initiatives, including:

  • Distributing baby items to 100 families, including 400 packs of wipes, 48 car seats, 24 strollers.
  • Giving $35,000 to the Domestic Violence Acute Response Team from Safehouse Progressive Alliance Network (SPAN) which provides critical assistance to survivors of domestic violence and their children.
  • Making nearly 253,000 referrals through the 211 Help Center.
  • Facilitating close to 20,000 volunteer hours.
  • Investing $28.8 million in our community.
  • Helping more than 183,500 people.

“PCL Construction’s partnership with Mile High United Way has been years in the making, including the company’s incredible work to construct our headquarters in Five Points in 2014. This year, PCL Construction went above and beyond – holding its annual golf tournament benefiting Mile High United Way, coordinating its employee giving campaign and sponsorships that resulted in over $500,000 toward our mission, and putting together thousands of dollars worth of wagons, seasonal kits and blankets to support the people we serve. PCL built our beautiful home and they build hope every day for families in our Metro Denver community. We’re so honored and grateful for their support,” said Christine Benero, Mile High United Way president and CEO.
