$8 Million Community Investment Secures Future of Central Florida Cultural Landmark
ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug 4, 2026) — PCL Construction Services Inc. is celebrating the completion of the renovation and expansion of The Winter Park Playhouse, marking a significant milestone for one of Central Florida’s most cherished cultural institutions.
For more than 20 years, The Winter Park Playhouse has been Central Florida’s only professional musical theater dedicated to year-round programming. The renovation secures the organization’s long-term future while expanding its capacity to serve residents and visitors through professional productions, educational outreach and community-focused programming.
“Every project has a story, and this one is about perseverance,” said Chris Ritter, district manager of PCL’s Orlando office. “After years of planning, collaboration and dedication, we’re proud to celebrate the reopening of a cultural institution that means so much to the community. It has been an honor for our team to help bring this iconic community space into its next chapter.”
The project was funded through an $8 million Tourist Development Tax (TDT) grant from Orange County and a partnership between the City of Winter Park and The Winter Park Playhouse. The project scope included expanded Broadway-style seating that increased seating capacity by 40%, a larger lobby, upgraded restrooms and a dedicated cabaret space designed to enhance the visitor experience.
Community leaders, project partners and supporters gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in July, marking the renovation’s community debut.
Founded in 2002, the theater produces professional musicals, cabarets, special events and the Florida Festival of New Musicals. The organization also delivers outreach programs that serve children, seniors and underserved populations across Central Florida.
The new and improved Winter Park Playhouse will welcome audiences back this summer as they launch their 2026-27 Mainstage Series, opening a new chapter for the organization and the community it has served for more than two decades.
