DENVER, Colo. (Nov. 6, 2023) – PCL Construction was selected as a 2023 Denver Business Journal Partners in Philanthropy winner. This award honors companies dedicated to service and making notable impacts in their communities. PCL’s Denver offices donated more than $760,000 to non-profits and charitable organizations over the past year. Upholding its core value of social responsibility, the company actively encourages and supports its employees to improve the quality of life in the communities where they live and work.

“Since entering the Colorado market nearly half a century ago, PCL Construction has continuously strived to be a catalyst for positive change,” said Deron Brown, PCL president and chief operating officer, U.S. Operations. “Our dedication to philanthropic work goes beyond financial contributions; I’m proud to say PCL employees at every level volunteer on various community boards and organizations. Empowering employees to serve as advocates for the causes important to them is core to the PCL’s culture.”

Long-time PCL community partners in Colorado include:

Mile High United Way: Since 1998, PCL has been a community partner to Mile High United Way (MHUW), donating more than $20 million to date. Every fall, a committee of PCL employees organizes a giving campaign to support MHUW’s mission of advancing children’s education and academic success.

Since PCL entered the Colorado market nearly a half-century ago, the company has completed several community partner projects that have helped shape the Denver community, including the MHUW headquarters

Brothers Redevelopment Inc. PCL is the longest-running company involved in the Brother’s Redevelopment Inc. Paint-A-Thon, which offers house painting, free of charge, to qualifying senior homeowners.

“This year the Paint-A-Thon held a whole new meaning for our team as the home our volunteers painted belonged to a widow whose husband coincidentally worked for PCL years ago. It was a very rewarding opportunity for PCL to participate in,” said Josh Cervantes, a superintendent with PCL.

Make-A-Wish® Colorado: Over the past year and a half, PCL employees have dedicated their skills to supporting critically ill children in partnership with Make-A-Wish® Colorado. They've created enchanting spaces such as princess-themed and outdoor-inspired rooms, painted vibrant murals, and constructed climbing walls, ball pits, and monkey bars, all in the pursuit of instilling hope in children’s lives.

Judi’s House: PCL has been a partner of the organization for over 15 years, the only research-based grief organization in the Metro Denver area that is committed to supporting grieving children and their families. PCL not only built the new Judi’s House facility but also served as a community activator to garner financial support for the project by donating PCL funds and coordinating the donation of construction supplies.

Florence Crittenton Services: Multiple PCL employees have served on the board of the organization, which helps educate, prepare and empower teen mothers to become active contributors to the community.

While PCL has made a lasting impact on a variety of organizations within the Denver metro area, the company’s impact extends across the United States. Some to note include support for Maui fire victims, sponsoring the Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Mentorship Program to help build future generations, and donating to local food banks and American Red Cross disaster relief.
