SARASOTA, Fla. (May 5, 2025) – PCL Construction, Inc.’s Lift Station 87 project in Sarasota, Florida, has earned an Envision Silver Award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.
The award is based on performance across a set of 64 credits including quality of life, stakeholder engagement, project management, community planning, energy, water, land use, ecological impacts, pollution, climate vulnerability and systems integration, among others.
PCL was recognized for several sustainability efforts, including recycling 100% of existing concrete, incorporating more than one million pounds of recycled material into building materials, reusing vertical pumps and generators and minimizing legacy tree removal.

Located on a compact lot close to the downtown main attractions and busy roadways, Lift Station 87 station was built to withstand a Category 3 hurricane and the accompanying storm surge. It boasts six 125-horsepower pumps with auxiliary backup systems, an odor control system and both on-site and off-site tie-ins to the existing transmission main. The lift station’s foundation is located 41 feet below sea level, while the top of the structure sits at 70 feet of elevation for a total structure height of 111 feet.
