Four-phase modernization program transformed one of the world's busiest arenas while maintaining uninterrupted operations and achieving zero lost-time incidents.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2026) – PCL Construction Services, Inc. is proud to announce that the Crypto.com Arena Renovations project has been named a 2026 ENR West Regional Best Project and has also received the ENR West Excellence in Safety Award from Engineering News-Record (ENR) West. These honors recognize the team's successful modernization of the iconic Los Angeles venue through a four-phase renovation program completed while the arena remained in operation, as well as its exceptional safety performance throughout construction.
The ENR West Best Projects program honors outstanding construction and design achievements across California and Hawaii. An independent panel of industry experts evaluated 131 submissions based on innovation, safety performance, contributions to industry and community, and overall construction and design quality.
Home to the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Sparks, Crypto.com Arena hosts more than 240 events annually and welcomes approximately four million guests each year. The four-phase modernization program enhanced premium hospitality spaces, concourses, suites, clubs, seating and team facilities throughout the 960,000-square-foot arena.
"On any given night during construction, Crypto.com Arena was both a jobsite and a world-class entertainment venue," said Ally Forster, manager, special projects, PCL Construction. "Games were being televised nationally, concerts were selling out, and major events like the GRAMMY Awards, Monster Jam and Disney on Ice continued as scheduled. This recognition reflects the strong partnership between PCL, AEG, Gensler and our trade partners throughout the project."
Completed between 2022 and 2025, the renovation program was delivered in four consecutive offseason phases, each limited to approximately 16 weeks. PCL and its partners coordinated work around professional sporting events, concerts, nationally televised broadcasts and tenant operations, accommodating as many as 50 to 65 interrupted workdays per phase. Despite these constraints, every phase was completed on schedule and under budget.
Safety remained a cornerstone of project delivery throughout all four phases, earning the project the ENR West Excellence in Safety Award. Across 583,979 worker hours, the project achieved a zero lost-time incident rate in an occupied venue environment with constantly changing public access routes and event configurations. The team implemented adaptive safety measures, including daily turnover procedures, mobile safety stations and digital logistics tools that provided workers with real-time access to project and emergency information.
The recognition highlights PCL's ability to deliver complex renovations in active, high-profile facilities while meeting client goals for safety, schedule, budget and operational continuity.
