Raised in a family rooted in real estate development, Andrew Fernandez was introduced to the world of construction early on through his father’s work. This exposure sparked a lasting interest in both the physical and financial aspects of building. To deepen his understanding of the business side of the industry, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in finance from Washington State University. At the same time, he gained hands-on experience through internships with general contractors, including with PCL Construction.
His background in finance provided a strong foundation for understanding project economics and budget management. This skill set, combined with his passion for construction, led him to focus on the operational and project management side of the business, where strategic thinking and tangible outcomes intersect.
Today, Andrew Fernandez serves as the district manager of PCL’s Seattle office, where he leads operations, business development and strategic initiatives across the Northwest region. In this role, he also champions the district’s community engagement efforts, ensuring PCL remains a positive and active presence in the local community. Fernandez is deeply committed to building and nurturing strong relationships with clients, trade partners and community stakeholders alike.
During his time at PCL, he’s played a key role in delivering some of the company’s most complex and high-profile projects, like Kona Village, a Rosewood Resort, and the in-progress Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, both joint-venture projects between PCL’s Seattle and Hawaii offices. In addition to hospitality projects, Fernandez has extensive experience building projects in the multifamily residential, publicly funded, and commercial and retail sectors.
With nearly two decades at PCL, Fernandez remains deeply passionate about the company’s culture and core values. What resonates most with him is the spirit of employee ownership, which fosters a collaborative environment and a strong sense of shared purpose. Throughout his career, Fernandez has benefited from the guidance and support of mentors and leaders who have invested in his growth, an experience that has been instrumental in shaping his journey at PCL.
This culture of support extends beyond internal teams to the way PCL engages with clients and partners. Fernandez believes that PCL offers more than construction expertise – it brings a true partnership approach to every project. With a solution-oriented mindset, the company is committed not only to delivering exceptional results but also to building enduring relationships. For Fernandez, success is defined not just by the quality of the work, but by becoming a trusted advisor and long-term ally to clients.
Outside of his role at PCL, Fernandez is actively engaged in both community and industry organizations. He has been a dedicated supporter of the American Heart Association for many years, taking on leadership roles in key initiatives. His involvement includes leading efforts within the Leaders of Impact program, a major fundraising initiative, and serving on the executive leadership team for the Heart Ball, the organization’s largest regional fundraising event.
In addition to his philanthropic work, Fernandez remains closely connected to the construction industry through his active participation in the General Contractors Association, where he has chaired multiple committees and contributed to advancing industry standards and collaboration.
