Brett Cummings is a Project Manager with PCL Construction’s Minneapolis Buildings team, bringing nearly 20 years of experience leading complex projects and guiding teams through change. Having joined PCL directly out of college, Cummings has built his career from the ground up, progressing through roles in field engineering, project engineering, special projects and project management. This depth of experience enables him to lead with strong technical expertise while remaining grounded in a people-first approach.
Cummings holds degrees in both construction management and architecture from the University of Minnesota, a dual background that allows him to bridge design intent with construction execution. He began his career with aspirations in architecture and gained early experience interning in a design office before discovering that his strengths were best applied in construction, where collaboration and problem-solving come together in real time. Today, he draws on that foundation to serve as a connector between owners, designers, trade partners and project teams, particularly on complex, multi-phase design-build projects.
What sets Cummings apart is his belief that project management is ultimately a people-driven profession. While technical expertise is essential, he believes the true opportunity lies in aligning diverse personalities, priorities and expectations around a shared goal. He emphasizes clarity and decisiveness, especially during periods of uncertainty, recognizing that timely decisions are critical to maintaining momentum and confidence across the team.
Cummings is particularly passionate about the client experience. He views construction not only as the delivery of a finished building, but as a collaborative journey. While the result matters, he believes the experience of getting there is just as important. Through consistent communication, transparency and trust, he strives to make the process feel approachable and well-coordinated, helping foster long-term client relationships and repeat business throughout his career.
