The 6z Non-Conventional Geothermal Plant, a renewable energy pilot project, will reduce Chevron’s carbon footprint while also generating enough power to support a 70,000 square-foot convention center. PCL worked with Chevron from the early development stage to ensure the project team could adhere to the strict schedule and budget of the project. Responsible for setting three coolers, a vaporizer skid and a motor control center building, we self-performed the pipe fabrication and installation of the interconnecting piping as well as the civil scope, which encompassed equipment foundations and pipe supports. 

It was necessary we set the large equipment directly onto supporting structures, however in some instances, the equipment was too large to stage and there was no laydown area. Due to the large cost associated with equipment staging and a delay with vendor-provided equipment, we strategically set some of it later and moved forward with prefabricating the piping to ensure progress continued. The team provided safe and sound execution for the customer as well as procurement services as needed during the commissioning stage.
