PCL installed a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system on Unit 2 at the JT Deely Plant. Construction involved erection of the new SCR on the existing coal-fired generation unit. As the self-perform contractor, PCL provided the engineer with constructability reviews to enable the use of existing structural steel. The PCL team performed site work, structural steel, duct fabrication and installation, damper installation, process piping, construction of a new ammonia unloading facility, electrical and instrumentation, and start-up.
The project team accomplished final tie-ins to ductwork and stack during major planned outages. PCL worked a 24-hour-per-day schedule, and the unit was brought on line as scheduled, with no lost-time incidents. Additional tie-ins were made during scheduled maintenance outages at the plant.
