Alberta Transportation’s first design-build project upgraded and widened Anthony Henday Drive at Stony Plain Road and 100 Avenue. The interchange is complete with free-flow systems with no traffic signals and consists of seven bridge structures, four directional ramps, six kilometers of six-lane divided roadway and 20 kilometers of road construction. The project occurred at one of the busiest interchanges in the Edmonton Capital Region, requiring the project team to mitigate extremely high traffic volumes through the use of traffic notices, lane closures and detours.
