YYC Calgary International Airport underwent an expansion to add a new runway and supporting facilities, enabling it to successfully service 13 million passengers a year. The new runway is 4,270-meters long and includes associated high-speed taxiways, a concrete apron around the new terminal, two underpasses and a centralized deicing facility.
Our team worked 24 hours a day, seven days a week to complete the project. With nearly 18 million cubic feet of concrete paving, three new batch plants and new paving machines were used. We also installed 500 inset lights in the runway and over 700 kilometers (435 miles) of electrical and communication cables.
