In the heart of Denver's third largest park, the Central Park playground has been a cherished space for families since its completion nearly 20 years ago. However, as the surrounding community more than tripled from 7,500 residents in 2007 to around 30,000 in 2024, the need for a playground that could accommodate this growth became evident.

To revitalize this beloved space, the PCL team worked with Denver Parks and Recreation and Russel + Mills Studio to renovate the grounds, beginning with the demolition of the old playground to make way for a vibrant new space designed to meet the needs of the expanding community. New concrete walkways, playground surfacing, play equipment, and site furnishings, including shade structures and picnic tables, were added to ensure accessibility for everyone and provide an enjoyable environment for children. The updated play equipment features a roller slide, play tower and zip line. New lighting enhances safety during evening visits, while water pumps and misters provide much-needed refreshment on hot days. The addition of new plantings and improvements to the irrigation system ensure that Central Park remains a green and inviting space for years to come.

These upgrades have transformed Denver’s Central Park playground into a modern, vibrant hub that reflects the growth and vitality of the community it serves.
