Two hundred Conexus banking employees, scattered across six different city locations, now gather at an innovative head office on the University of Regina College Avenue Campus. Construction of Conexus’ new head office included an atrium, which connects to Darke Hall, Regina’s historic concert hall. Visitors to the theater or Conservatory of Performing Arts can enter via the Conexus atrium. 

The team developed a raised access floor system to house most of the mechanical and electrical systems. This created flexibility to allow for the office and meeting spaces to be altered to suit any number of configurations in the future, with minimal effort. 

As a forward-thinking construction partner, we used the Last Planner System® to re-sequence and phase the project when permitting and design progression risked delaying the project. This fast-tracked approach reduced the construction schedule by approximately one year and helped Conexus move into their new space before leases expired on their other six properties.   

The University intends to modernize the historic campus for contemporary functional use, and state-of-the-art IT connectivity and the Conexus Head Office supports that goal by providing space and support as a business incubator; Conexus staff are available as mentors and guest lecturers, and Conexus offers the building as a working lab for student research. 

The Conexus Head Office provides a lesson in how thoughtful design can support the restoration of heritage buildings by seamlessly integrating new construction with older spaces.
