What’s better than two stories? How about four? The University of Denver (DU) doubled their new office building to further expand the campus.

The project originally received permitting for two stories, so we worked closely with the design team to meet new permit deadlines and requirements to achieve the larger, four-story structure. The new design focused on an open office layout with easy reconfiguration.

The DU Office Building turned out extra cool, thanks to the installation of a variable refrigerant cooling system. Variable cooling systems allow for cooling to occur in only certain areas instead of the entire building, thus reducing energy consumption. The addition enabled the project to surpass its sustainability goal of LEED Silver to achieve LEED Gold certification.
