The 29,903-square-foot Government of Canada Building houses different levels of the federal and territorial governments of Nunavut. Due to the extreme temperatures and permafrost, the building is set on steel piles four feet off the ground.

The development also includes a mechanical penthouse on the main and second floors. In addition, the exterior was constructed with soft curves to mimic snow drifts.

As no surprise, the project proved challenging in terms of weather and logistics. All materials were crated for arctic shipping and were sea-lifted from eastern Canada to Iqaluit.
