Located in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood is the Murano Senior Living community, which offers independent living, assisted living and memory care services. The community is conveniently located a few blocks from Harborview Medical Center and Swedish Medical Center and is adjacent to the Frye Museum. Residents of the 243-unit facility can enjoy an array of amenities, including two levels of below-grade parking, a café, multiple bars and restaurants, art studio, card room, tech lounge, health and wellness center, barber shop and salon, gym, theater, auditorium and multiple outdoor terraces – a unique lifestyle to fit everyone’s needs.

Our relentless focus on innovation led to smart building practices implemented on Murano, including pouring all three concrete elements – deck, columns and core – on the same day; a direct result of careful planning. Lean construction methods such as pull planning allowed the client to view upcoming work and responsibilities for interior, exterior and enclosure work. An online delivery and crane usage scheduling board mirrored onto a display near the personnel and material hoist, allowing real-time review and scheduling by the crews. This created greater communication amongst the trade partners and optimized deliveries.

Originally presented to the client as a hallmark project for high-rise senior living, Murano proved to be a success for the “proof-of-concept”.
